Impact Stories: Gus

be in and out quickly, but as they got to talking with Gus, they realized there was much more to his story.

Gus shared with our staff that he had family in Tarpon, FL, and would benefit from the health care services provided by the VA in the Tampa area.

As luck would have it, we had an apartment just a short distance from his family that would be available in just a few short weeks.

In the meantime, VOAFL staff helped Gus find immediate housing in a local program while his new apartment at VOAFL’S Arbor Place is made ready for him.

Soon Gus will live within walking distance of his doctors’ offices, where he receives weekly treatments for his illness. He will have an opportunity to live in peace, surrounded by family, and supported by our dedicated staff. Gus fought for our country, and we are honored to fight for him.

This story is a testament to the power of listening and the importance of going the extra mile for those in need. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Gus and all our residents at #VOAFL, and we are committed to continuing to make a positive impact on their lives every day.
