Who We Are
VOA Florida is a faith-based, human service organization that engages Floridians in need, including unhoused Veterans, individuals and families experiencing homelessness, those diagnosed with mental health and cognitive conditions, and vulnerable seniors. Creating positive life changes through housing and supportive services (i.e., behavioral health, case management, and more).
When Volunteers of America was founded, a “volunteer” was someone whose vocation was to serve others through a commitment to a mission. Today, we are still staffed by mission-driven professionals working to support individuals and build thriving communities, only now we call them “employees.”

🏡💙 From Devastating Loss to a Place to Call HomeAfter a devastating house fire destroyed their trailer, Veteran Douglas Haynes and his wife, Thela, faced the uncertainty of finding stable housing. Through VOA Florida’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, the Haynes family received assistance to secure housing and begin rebuilding their future.With the help of community partners, including Veterans Helping Veterans, the couple worked toward long-term housing stability through SSVF’s Shallow Subsidy Program while pursuing their dream of homeownership with Habitat for Humanity of Marion County.Through hard work and perseverance, Douglas and Thela completed their required sweat equity hours and met the program’s expectations.
