When Volunteers of America was founded, a “volunteer” was someone whose vocation was to serve others through a commitment to a mission. Today, we are still staffed by mission-driven professionals working to support individuals and build thriving communities, only now we call them “employees.”

Our Sebring residents recently had the opportunity to hear from Cristian Sustaita, Highlands County Emergency Management Coordinator, who shared valuable information on hurricane and severe weather preparedness.![]()

Residents learned about the importance of building emergency kits, protecting important documents, creating communication and evacuation plans, preparing for power outages and flooding, and planning ahead for pets, medications, and medical equipment.![]()
