WHAT: Volunteers of America of Florida (VOAF), UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Florida and Graham Barton from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team up to ensure Tampa residents have access to no-cost nutritious food before the holidays. The event is a drive-thru and each family will receive one food box while supplies last.
Food boxes will include a turkey, a mix of fresh produce, pantry staples, and shelf-stable items designed to help prepare well-rounded holiday meals. Metropolitan Ministries will be supplying turkeys and other holiday food items so individuals and families can enjoy a festive and nutritious meal.
Staff and volunteers from VOAF and UnitedHealthcare will be on-site to support traffic flow and ensure a quick, safe distribution process. The food boxes will be distributed on a first come first served basis.

WHY: According to America’s Health Rankings 2024 Report, 12% of households in Florida are unable to provide adequate food for one or more members of the household due to lack of resources. Organizations like Volunteers of America of Florida and events like this help bridge these gaps. Barton’s participation, along with the support of UnitedHealthcare ensures that families have access to food this holiday season.
