The Exquisite Corpse Games is a collaborative art experience rooted in a surrealist tradition that began more than 100 years ago and has been reimagined for the modern era. Inspired by a parlor game created by Surrealist artists in France, the game brings together selected artists from multiple disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, poetry, music, and film, to create a single, unified work of art.
In this contemporary version, participating artists are invited to take part and are randomly paired with two others. Each artist is assigned a specific section of the artwork, known as a “corpse,” and creates their piece independently without knowing who the other collaborators are or what they are creating. Over a three-month period, the artwork is developed in secrecy, encouraging artists to step outside their comfort zones, trust the process, and embrace creative freedom.
The final phase of the game is the unveiling, where artists and attendees experience the completed work together for the very first time. This moment reveals how individual expressions merge into one cohesive, thought-provoking piece. The Exquisite Corpse Games celebrates collective creativity, artistic risk-taking, and the power of collaboration, while fostering unity, connection, and positive change through the arts.
