A FEW HELPFUL ANSWERS
What is a donor-advised fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is an account dedicated to charitable giving through a sponsoring organization. You contribute funds to the account and recommend grants to eligible nonprofits, while your DAF provider reviews and approves grant recommendations.
Can I direct my gift to a specific program or location?
If you would like your grant to benefit a particular VOA Florida program or community, contact us at development@voa-fla.org before submitting your recommendation. We can help you identify the appropriate recipient and discuss how to designate your gift.
Can I make recurring gifts through my DAF?
Many DAF providers offer options for recurring grant recommendations. Check with your provider or review your account settings to learn what options are available.
Are DAF grants tax-deductible?
Tax deductions generally apply when you contribute eligible funds to your DAF. Recommending a grant from your DAF to VOA Florida typically does not qualify for an additional deduction. Consult your DAF provider or tax advisor for guidance specific to your circumstances.
How long will it take for my grant to arrive?
Processing times vary by provider and payment method. Your DAF provider can provide updates on the status of your recommendation and the expected timing of your grant.
