Florida is widely recognized for its commitment to veterans, yet more than 106,000 veterans in the state live below the federal poverty level. Far too many continue to face barriers to housing, health care, employment, and the stability they have earned through their service.VOA Florida is here to help veterans overcome these barriers, access the resources they have earned, and build a path toward lasting stability.
Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program
VOA Florida provides suicide prevention and intervention services to eligible Veterans and their families in Alachua, Levy, Bradford, Gilchrist, Lafayette, and Union counties in Florida.

- Baseline mental health screenings
- Clinical service referrals
- Moral injury groups
- Peer support services
- Education on suicide risk and prevention for families and communities
Eligibility Requiments
- Veteran or qualifying military service
- Completion of a baseline screening
- Screening results meeting the program’s suicide-risk criteria, as determined by an approved VA screening tool

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)
SSVF programs provide temporary and supportive services for low or no-income veterans and veteran families. These programs aim to promote housing stability through assistance and support services to homeless persons or those at risk of homelessness.
Transitional Housing and Supportive Services for Veterans
VOA Florida is recognized as the largest provider of supportive housing for veterans in Florida. We are devoted to providing safe, clean, and affordable housing, serving 19 communities from Pensacola to Key West. We provide housing to male and female veterans and their families, supporting their journey toward stability.
Our veteran-focused programs are designed to support veterans experiencing homelessness, older veterans, and those navigating mental health, emotional wellness, or substance use challenges. We help veterans connect with the benefits and resources they have earned while building on the unique camaraderie of military service through mentoring and peer-to-peer support. Our comprehensive services include outreach, assessment, emergency assistance, transitional housing, affordable housing, and case management.
Through dedicated service and compassion, our united support helps our veterans come “all the way home.”
Veterans Housing Programs
Veteran Home Repairs – The Home Depot Foundation
With support from The Home Depot Foundation, VOAF provides a program for veterans needing home repairs.
This program focuses on addressing the repairs that are most urgently required, prioritizing critical health, safety, and adherence to building codes.
Please note: At this time, construction assistance is limited to veterans residing in the Tampa Bay area, specifically Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Manatee counties.
